NCE NODE Mechatronics Conference 2012, November 7.
General Information
In cooperation with University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science, we are proud to present the NODE Mechatronics Conference 2012.
The event was originally planned as a 2 day event, but on feedback from the industry, we have focused the event on the core professional topics of mechatronics. In order to adapt to the extreme workload our industry is experiencing both nationally and internationally it has been necessary to condense the conference to a one day event. The event will be held according to the originally planned “Day 2” at the University of Agder Grimstad Campus on Wednesday 7. November 2012.
We are proud to present a very hight level of speakers. Professor Torben Ole Andersen, Institute of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, Prof. Geir Hovland, and Mr. Knut Berg Kaldestad, University of Agder will give lectures. Representatives from the NODE Cluster Companies Aker Solutions, National Oilwell Varco and Cargotec are giving insight in current projects. Mr. Bjørn Brekne, Lead Researcher Drilling Technology, Statoil, will present Robotized Drilling Solutions and Mr.Jens A Gjestvang from Kongsberg Defense Systems will present Autonomy in Advanced Cruise Missiles. In addition the NCE NODE Mechatronics’ Award 2012 Nominees and Winner will be presented.
The oil and gas sector in Southern Norway represents a strong industrial environment and NCE NODE (Norwegian Offshore & Drilling Engineering) consists of close to 60 participating businesses from the region. The NODE cluster companies deliver everything from state-of-the-art technological equipment for use onboard platforms and vessels to complete platform solutions.
Their customers are yards, rig-owners, ship-owners and oil companies in arround the world. NODE’s vision is to assist in assuring that the oil and gas industry in South Norway will maintain its globally leading position regardless of outside competition.
About the NCE Programme
The Norwegian Centres of Expertise Programme (NCE) is established to enhance sustainable innovation and internationalization processes in the most dynamic and growth-oriented Norwegian clusters. The programme supports long-term development processes in the clusters based on collaboration between industry, R&D and the public sector. Twelve clusters have so far been selected and given status as a NCE project. The NCE Programme is jointly owned and implemented by the three main Norwegian innovation agencies: Innovation Norway, the Research Council of Norway and SIVA, with Innovation Norway having the main responsibility. The programme was launched in 2006, and is funded by two ministries: the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development.
The NCE NODE cluster has been awarded The GOLD Label, certifying excellent cluster management according to a harmonized approach of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI) and the European Foundation of Quality Management (EFQM).
